Extra Curricular
St. Joseph/Marquette Catholic School’s mission is to educate the total child. As part of the mission, we provide a variety of extra-curricular activities. These activities are available to help the students to develop their talents.
Athletics
Marquette Middle School belongs to the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA). We are a member of the Yakima Valley Gold League. Participation in the Marquette Athletic Program is voluntary.
The Gold League includes the following schools: Goldendale, Kittitas, Mabton, Riverside Christian, St. Paul’s, Sunnyside Christian, Thorp and White Swan. We offer the following sports for 7th & 8th grade boys and girls: Boys Baseball, Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Soccer, Track & Field and Girls Volleyball. Some of the sports are in combination with St. Paul’s Cathedral School.
Athletic Director: Mr. Congleton.
Catholic Youth Organization (C.Y.O.) Basketball
Catholic Youth basketball is open to boys and girls from grades kindergarten through 3rd. Sign-ups start the first week in November, practices start after Thanksgiving, a jamboree is held the Saturday before Christmas and games are on Saturdays in January and February. Parents volunteer to coach the C.Y.O. teams. Practice times are available in the St. Joseph’s gym. Usually each team receives 1 hour, twice a week, on one-half of the basketball court.

Kostka Club
Kostka Club is open to students in grades 4 – 8, who are registered members of St. Joseph Parish. They serve Liturgies and help the church in various seasonal activities. The club meets at school during lunchtime.
Advisor: Mrs. Joanne Velasquez and Father Gene Delmore SJ.
Yearbook
Eighth grade students interested in being on the yearbook staff usually meet one day a week after school for an hour to do everything necessary to produce the school yearbook. They take pictures, design pages, paste up pages, and write copy. They also make decisions regarding theme, contents, and cover choices. If you are creative, we need you!
Advisor: Mrs. Van Amburg
